Hi, I am Annette the artist.

I am a painter and maker working with acrylics, recycled textiles, found objects, hand stitching, and raw canvas.  I favor materials that yield varied textures and unexpected reactions, honoring craft traditions like sewing, quilting, and mending. My process is intuitive and experimental, blending the meditative quiet of handwork and the rigor of active problem-solving.

Each material brings something specific: raw canvas provides a tactile surface where paint behaves unpredictably, while reclaimed textiles and other materials add their own histories and structure. These foundations extend into assemblage, object‑making, and textile‑based work.

My practice is about building a visual language to explore the feeling of being neither here nor there. Through the use of paint, recycled textiles, and other materials, I explore identity, belonging, and what it means to live between cultures and spaces. Each piece reflects these in-between states and invites viewers to pause and consider where they locate themselves.

I make work that encourages closer inspection—textures, stitches, color choices, and the balance between order and uncertainty. As my practice grows, I continue expanding this visual vocabulary, testing new materials, techniques, and pushing myself toward more experimentation and risk.
